Waldo Canyon Fire distraction

The past few days I've been glued to my computer and iPhone for news of the fire in Colorado Springs. I lived there for nine months leading up to and during the Beijing Olympics, so it holds a special place in my heart.

And the pictures and updates have been stressful and devastating--yesterday, in particular. The only good news is that there have been no reports of casualties so far.

But the weather has not been cooperative so it's hard to know what will happen in the days to come. That weather, along with the ridiculously high heat, has made me pretty thankful for our overcast, rainy days recently.

Today is actually gorgeous. Right around 70 and sunny. I even took the bus a few extra blocks so I could grab an ice tea and walk home.

Even though I should be outside right now, I'm laying on the couch and considering taking a nap. I'm don't really nap, but today it sounds tempting.

At the very least, though, I should get some reading done for class tomorrow.

For now, though, I'm going to refresh some news stories and check on things in the Springs. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with everyone there right now.

Have you seen the pictures out of CO? What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

  1. The fire in Colorado Springs is horrifying, I feel so bad for those who have lost their homes, that is pretty much my worst nightmare. Jealous that you're out there enjoying the sun, I still have about an hour left at the office.

  4. If only they could take the water from the flooding in Northern MN and dump it on CO. This is just heartbreaking.

  5. A lot of people have lost their homes so far. The Insurance company I used to work for is probably handing that Catastrophe. It's rough adjusting a fire loss, I can't imagine what it's like for the homeowner.

    Thoughts and prayers to Colorado!
