Today was my first real day of work since early June.
It did not start off well. Actually it started out badly last night.
I woke up in the middle of the night to my intestines fighting some sort of internal battle. I'm still not sure who won.
Then in a fit of delirium this morning I somehow dismissed my alarm instead of just hitting snooze. Next thing I know I have 15 minutes to get to class on time. This includes finding parking and walking across campus.
I made it, 5 minutes late, which isn't exactly an auspicious start to the quarter.
On top of that, I unknowingly was supposed to bring the computers to class.
My work schedule was completely screwed up.
The good news: my illegal parking on campus did not result in a parking ticket and the schedule is pretty much straightened out, for now. I'll take the victories where I can get them at this point.
I'm just hoping the rest of the quarter goes a little more smoothly.
For those of you who are knew to my blog, I'm a transcriber. This means I provide speech-to-text communication access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the college classroom.
It's awesome, challenging, interesting, and oftentimes quite nerve wracking.
sorry about the bad day!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you came out pretty even. At my college, you couldn't park illegally for 30 seconds without getting a ticket. And I'd start to have a panic attack if I was within 5 minutes of my meter expiring. So that would have been a major win in my book!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! Reminds me of the quarter where every Friday I had a section that was 1 hour earlier than my classes the rest of the week. Well at the end of the quarter I got up, went to class...and no one was there. Huh. I didn't think much of it, so I went to the library to study for my French final that was right after the end of that class. And I still had an hour right since this class was cancelled, right? So wrong. As my computer started up in the library, I had this horrifying moment when it said it was 9:35 instead of 8:35. I had forgot to set my alarm 1 hour earlier so I had been operating like it was an hour earlier. Agh!
ReplyDeleteSo I raced across campus and sat down just as the prof was handing out exams. :) It was the first time I was ever late to that class too.
Hope today goes better for you!
I didn't know that's what you do! I'm deaf and have had that but rely on interpreters instead. Do you use c-print? You must be amazing at typing! :)
